Purpose:
To improve the health and/or quality of life for those affected by neuromuscular conditions, particularly those not supported by mainstream health funding.

The Foundation’s funding priorities include:

  • Assist and relieve persons in New Zealand suffering from neuromuscular disorders and the after-effects of such disorders
  • Maintain hospitals, clinics, homes, and equipment where persons suffering from neuromuscular disorders may obtain treatment
  • Assist the work of any institution, society, or body of persons in New Zealand engaged in the investigation of neuromuscular disorders and associated treatments
  • Contribute towards training persons to undertake the treatment of neuromuscular disorders

Grant Conditions & Reporting

The Foundation may attach specific conditions to any approved grant.

Successful applicants are required to provide an outcomes report within 12 months of receiving the funds, or earlier if the funds have been spent before then.

The report should provide a brief update on how the grant was used and the outcomes achieved. Where relevant, reporting should include a focus on people living with the impact of neuromuscular conditions.

For larger grants or research grants, the Foundation may require additional reporting and/or presentations on the progress and outcomes of the funded project.

Declined Applications

The Foundation does not provide feedback or enter into correspondence regarding declined applications.

All applications are considered carefully, with decisions made at the Trustees’ discretion based on alignment with the Foundation’s priorities and available resources.
